Colorful & Thoughtful Conversation Set Up In A Black & White Frame

By Abhirajika Agrawal

Bollywood has taught us that “ek ladka aur ladki kabhi sirf dost nahi ho sakte, beech mein pyaar aa hi jaata hai”. Now, while love and sex are not the same, what happens when a guy wants to sleep with his best friend for just one time?
While unpacking this theme, Shailendra Sahu packs a punch in his quirky short titled “Main sirf ek baar tere saath sona chahta hun, ise dosri tarah kaise kahun”. The poetry spewing male lead (Aamir Aziz) tells this verbatim without much ado to his best friend, played by an attractive and coy Prakriti Dutta Mukherjee.
The short is rendered cinematically in black and white, set in the dramatic frame of under a tree, by the sea shore. One can hear the rustling of the leaves, and the periodic crashing of waves in the background. Sound Design by Niladri Roy is on point and precise, lending a perfect backdrop for what can be best described as a lyrical conversation embedded with metaphors and references to iconic hindi movies. Lastly, one can never have enough references to the stellar Tabu, which earns this short a hundred thumbs up from us.
